phone call or an Email regarding your economic stimulus check

If you get a phone call or an Email regarding your economic stimulus check, don’t give out any information - this is a scam!



The IRS has reported that they’ve received reports of “Phishing” Emails with the Subject
2008 Economic Stimulus Refund This Email tells the recipient to fill out a form, asking financial related questions such as your bank account number etc.



In another Economic Stimulus check scam, people are getting phone calls asking for similar information and the caller claims to be from the IRS.
The scammers are then taking this privy information and depleting banking accounts.



The IRS is able to process stimulus checks for anyone that filed a 2007 tax return and no other information is required.



If you receive a suspicious Email, you’re asked to forward the message along to:

phishing@irs.gov
