Fundraisers scheduled to support Staten Island hurricane victims

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Staten Islanders who want to show their support and solidarity with Hurricane Sandy victims might want to attend one or more of a variety of fundraisers being planned around the borough. The Advance and SILive.com will be listing these fundraisers as they come in. Here are a few set for this weekend and next week: 
BEACH BARBECUE 

A barbecue to benefit South Beach victims of Hurricane Sandy will be held Saturday starting at noon. The organizers are two neighborhood residents, John Castro and Eric Ortiz. Those who plan to attend "Giving Back to the Beach BBQ -- Charity Cookout," are asked to bring food to cook and share with those who need help. Other donations will also be accepted.
The barbecue will be held at the intersection of Sand Lane and Capodanno Boulevard. The event is being held in the spirit of bringing the community of South Beach together. For more information, call Castro at 917-831-6723.
Also on Saturday at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Capodanno Boulevard, Big Dom's Concrete has organized a benefit for victims of Hurricane Sandy, beginning at 8:30 a.m. According to Dom Carozza, the event features food, but volunteers and local business people will also be on hand to help.

CONCERT FRIDAY
For the music enthusiasts, The Concert for Staten Island Hurricane Relief will take place Friday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Dock Street Underground (www.dockstreet.com), 691 Bay St., at the corner of Dock Street, Stapleton. Tickets are $20 at the door, with proceeds donated to the Tunnel to Towers Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund for Staten Island (www.tunneltotowers.org).
Woodrow resident Stefan Barone, founder of the Anti-Bully League and Play It Forward Support Group, is organizing and will perform during the concert, which will be hosted by Mark Marvel of 2090, Rob Lottabarz of Padlock Party Ent, and DJ Rocstar of the Dangeroom Social Club. Performances scheduled include Brielle Von Hugel (American Idol Finalist), Victory, Bobbie Grei, Squeegi O, Kritikal, K F Hox, Richard Rich, Duane Howard, Chris White, Mark Marvel, Rob Lottabarz, Gino Blak, Griz, Mic-T, and Princess. There will also be art displays and auctions from Chris Malfi of Art Off Paper (www.artoffpaper.com).

SALON CUTS
Salon Neo, 1108 Forest Ave., Mariners Harbor, is organizing a fundraiser Tuesday, Nov. 12. The salon will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from haircuts ($55) and blowouts ($27 and up) to relief efforts to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy. BENEFIT CONCERT 
A Nov. 18 concert is scheduled to support two Staten Island non-profit groups that are aiding hurricane victims: The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the William Mooney Foundation. The concert will take place from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Karl's Clippers, 40 Bay St., in St. George. Admission is $20 at the door. Scheduled to perform are Tom O'Callaghan, the Richmond County Pipes & Drums, Band of Rogues, Irish Dancers, and The Recruder's. Benefit T-shirts, raffles and gift baskets will also be available. 
